“MAMA! MAAMAA!” Ryan’s scream tore through her fog of sleep.

Beth Allen was out of bed and across the room before she’d even fully opened her eyes. Heart pounding, she lifted her two-year-old son out of the secondhand crib, pressing his face into her neck as she held him.

“It’s okay, Ry,” she said softly, pushing the sweaty auburn curls away from his forehead. Curls she dyed regularly, along with her own. “Shh, Mama’s right here. It was just a bad dream.”

“Mama,” the toddler said again, his little body shuddering. His tiny fists were clamped tightly against her—her nightshirt and strands of her straight auburn hair held securely within them.

“Mama” was what he’d said when she’d woken up alone with him in that motel room in Snowflake, Arizona, with a nasty bruise on her forehead, another one at the base of her skull. And no memory whatsoever.

She didn’t know how old she was. How old her son was. She could only guess Ry’s age by comparing him to other kids.

She didn’t even know her own name. She’d apparently checked in under the name Beth Allen and, trusting herself to have done so for a reason, had continued using it. It could be who she really was, but she doubted it. She’d obviously been on the run, and it didn’t seem smart to have made herself easy to find.

Suspicious

by Heather Graham

Cold-blooded predators lurk in the Everglades—and not all of them are gators

When Jesse Crane returned to his roots to serve on the Miccosukee police force, he’d hoped to leave behind the violence of the city and the memories of his murdered wife. But bodies start to pile up in Jesse’s corner of the sultry Florida swampland…

As he probes these crimes, Jesse is drawn to the beautiful Lorena Fortier, a new hire at the local gator farm and research facility. Lorena is a little too interested in Jesse’s investigation, but before he can uncover her true motives, they’re both pulled into a dangerous web of greed, ambition and animal cunning. To survive, they’ll have to decide whether they can trust each other…before the hunters become the hunted.

The Sheriff of Shelter Valley

by Tara Taylor Quinn

Six months ago, Beth woke up with no memory of her past, a bruised face and a little boy who called her “Mama.” Until her memory returns, the most dangerous thing she can do is to fall for the sheriff—the one man who can uncover the truth and destroy the person she’s become.

All Six On The List (Tara Taylor Quinn)

Mother By Fate is out this week.  Which means I’ve been on Amazon checking sales statistics.  This week, the process has been…thankful.  I stand up for this series – Where Secrets Are Safe.  I feel that it has something good to contribute to the world beyond reading enjoyment.  According to what Amazon is telling me – you all do, too.  Mother By Fate is the fifth book in the series.  The sixth is out in June.  And this week, all six books – including June’s not yet released one – are on the Amazon Superromance bestseller list.  Not only on the list but on spots #1 & #2.  So, today, I’m going to tell you a little bit about each of the books.  You can click on any of them to purchase.

Mother By Fate – I had a friend for many years who struggled emotionally. I took on her daughter as my own. I loved that little girl, took her into my home, my family. And when the friend moved on, when she determined that she no longer needed my help, I was left with an emptiness in my heart that I couldn’t do anything about.

That emptiness is the basis of Mother By Fate. I don’t have the answers. But I understand the pain. And believe that love really can heal whatever cuts we carry inside us.

Child By Chance – Child By Chance is the story of an ex-stripper. I took ballet class for five years.  I learned to respect the physicality of dance. The athleticism of dancers. I learned about dedication. And I learned about finding my center and ‘pulling up’. Talia, the heroine in Child By Chance, knows all of these things. But this isn’t a story about dance. It’s a story about life’s tough choices. About making mistakes. And making amends. It’s a story of heart, redemption, and the true meaning of love.  All kinds of love.

Husband By Choice -  One of the hardest things in the world to do is to give in to the intangible, often seemingly illogical ‘something’ inside of us – to trust it – and to follow it’s dictates.   Husband by Choice is the story of one such situation. And the woman who thought herself weak, but who is actually strong enough to listen to her heart – to act upon the instinct inside of her even though it drives her straight into danger. This story is fiction. I don’t recommend that any woman face violence on her own. I do, however, fully embrace every woman’s right to live by her heart. To fight for that right. And to know ultimate joy.

Once A Family – Families are tough. Maybe more than anyone else, we trust our family members to have our backs. To love us no matter what. And with that trust comes the capacity for great pain. If our trust is broken. If family members aren’t who we think they are. We misunderstand. And we understand, too. We know that family is heart. And heart is the one thing that we can’t ever completely walk away from.  So we run to the Lemonade Stand, Where Secrets are Safe, and pain can be healed. Come on in. Get comfortable. But be prepared to find family and be loved.

Wife By Design – Happiness comes through the choices we make in face of life’s challenges. Every woman deserves to be happy. We are special – the nurturers. Sometimes people take advantage of that which makes us most precious.  Sometimes we have to ask for help.  And sometimes there is pure joy at the end of the tunnel.   Meet resident Nurse Practitioner, Lynn Duncan and her precocious three year old, Kara. You’ll also be meeting Kara’s homosexual father.  There’s a a mentally slow child care worker, and the man who loves her. There’s struggle and challenge, fear and pain.  There is also pure joy.

The Good Father – Coming in June!!

Sometimes we create what we most need to have and that’s the case in the story of The Good Father. This is a very special book in the Where Secrets Are Safe series. It’s the story of a man who created his own safety net, he just didn’t know it.

If you’ve read any of the other books in this series, you’ve heard about the mysterious founder of The Lemonade Stand – a unique women’s shelter set on the coast of California. We hear of him, of his generosity and his decisions. We just never meet him. We have no idea who he is. Nor do any of the people who work at and are associated with the stand.

Brett Ackerman is a man with secrets. A man with an atrocious past who limits his future rather than risk any more atrocities in his life. He is also the founder of The Lemonade Stand. He created something he’d wished had existed when he was growing up a victim of domestic violence. Stepping outside the story, I created The Lemonade Stand, because I wished something like it had existed when I was a young newlywed unable to tell anyone what was going on behind closed doors.

I’m not Brett. But he and I have something in common. We both hid from our pasts, tucking things away, thinking we’d dealt with them, only to find that they’d been there all along, preventing ultimate happiness. I hope you’ll give Brett a chance. Follow along with him on his journey as he struggles to help a friend and finds himself in the process. I promise you warmth and happiness at the end.

I am deeply committed to all of my stories. And in this series, I feel as though I am a character, one of the peripheral, unnamed woman who also live at The Lemonade Stand. Because everyone is welcome here. All you have to do is want to find happiness and joy. And to understand that when life hands you lemons, you can make Lemonade.

It’s Time! (Maggie)

On Sale Tuesday June 29th!

Yes, it’s time. The first of my summer releases goes on sale this coming Tuesday, June 29th, and I am over the moon with excited anticipation.iphone 6 plus replacement screen I always get this way just before a book comes out. I get nervous and jittery and I start scouring the internet for reviews. I’ve had some beautiful ones. I’ve had a few lukewarm ones. I had a male reviewer who said it was a pretty good book, aside from all the focus on true love. Guess no one told him it was a romance novel. LOL!

So I’ve been reading all the reviews I can find, and driving myself crazy over every negative comment–and there really weren’t any truly negative comments. There were a few less than stellar ones, though, and PW called it a “pleasant beach read.” Might as well have thrust a dagger through my heart with that!

On Sale July 27th!

So when I finish scanning reviews, I normally head to the telephone, where I can call Ingram’s automated stock & order line to find out how many copies this major distributor has ordered, and I compare that number with the numbers from the previous book, and hope to see a significant increase. If I don’t, I get depressed.

I can’t do that this time, because I’ve lost the number. And I haven’t made any effort to find it because I think it’s healthier for me to leave it lost.

After that, the main obsessing I do is the obligatory checking of the sales rank at Amazon, BN.com, and any other online store with a sales rank.

And then of course, I obsess and wait and hunt for the bestseller lists. There are several. USA Today, NY Times, Waldenbooks, Bookscan. Ingram’s used to have one called the A-list. It vanished from wherever I used to find it–online maybe? I think they hid it from OCD authors. Probably for our own good.

So some of my usual sources of obsessing are no longer available to me, but there are plenty of new ones to fill in the gaps. I could easily drive myself crazy.

But I won’t. Because this time, I know what I didn’t know in all those books gone by. I know that I’m making this up as I go along. We all are. I know that whatever happens with this book will happen because it’s what I, deep down, expected to happen. I’m working on expecting phenomenal success. I might be there or I might not be quite there yet, but I know that’s the key. So all the obsessing in the world will only show me what I created myself with my expectations and most deeply seeded beliefs. And if it’s not quite what I would like it to be, then I need only practice a bit more at steering my thoughts with more precision. And practice is really all one needs.

On Sale August 31!

So the key then, according to Abraham and Jerry and Esther Hicks and Gregg Braden and Louise Hay and Deepak Chopra and every other spiritual teacher I follow, is to feel the feeling of outrageous success, feel the feelings that will surge through me when I see those single digit listings on every major bestseller list. Feel the feelings that will flow when the film rights are sold. When the accolades roll in. When the publishers are fighting over me. I have to feel those things now.

Oh, boy.  Those things feel really good.  I should have tried this sooner!

You know this works for anything in life.  Start trying to experience the feelings you’d be feeling if it were already true.  Really imagine it and pretend it’s happening and act it out in your mind, whatever the goal.  This is the lost mode of prayer talked about by Gregg Braden.  This is the creating reality by our attention to it, talked about by quantum theorists.  This is the art of allowing talked about by Abraham.  This is the secret they were trying to tell us in THE SECRET.

Try it!  It’s an amazing thing to realize how much power you really have in your life.  And even if your skepticism runs too deep to let it work for you right away, you get the benefit of feeling that good in that moment.  And that cannot be a bad thing.

I’d love to hear the results of your experiments, readers.  Try this with something small, something you perceive as “easy.”  And report back!
